Position Highlights The University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) is seeking a Data Analyst III to join the Center for Biomedical Informatics & Biostatistics. The incumbent will need to understand clinical and biomedical research domains to support and service research studies/projects users across campus as well as university-wide initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Build, deploy and manage Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) pipelines to migrate data from source systems to the data warehouse/repository using common data models for observational research such as OMOP, as well as perform analysis using various quantitative techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, explanatory, predictive modeling, federated analyses) to extract meaningful information from clinical data. 
  • Collaborate/consult with faculty and staff to better understand project needs as well as contribute to research design, implementation, and sustainability of current and future clinical research project(s), and support/monitor clinical research project activities, outcomes, and goals to ensure successful project completion.
  • Deploy, support, and maintain informatics tools and technologies (e.g., REDCap, i2b2, cloud workbenches), and develop technical and non-technical documentation, training materials, and reports for interdisciplinary research teams

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong research computing skills using Python, R, and/or related tools as well as documented experience with database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL, or similar).
  • Familiarity in working with clinical datasets and related standards.
  • Ability to work with cloud environments.
  • Ability to gather, listen and respond to feedback to ensure the data system meets stakeholder needs.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to self-direct and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly with little to no guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, informatics, software engineering, or relevant related field or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Preferred Qualifications* Two years of relevant programming experience and proficiency in either Python, R, PHP, Java, C#, or Perl.
* Proficient in SQL for at least one major RDBMS platform (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, MS SQL, or).
* Use of version control systems such as Git.
* Well versed in creating reproducible analysis pipelines and workflows for ETL tasks.
* Knowledge of terminology standards.
* Knowledge of current and emerging computing technologies.
* Knowledge of advanced data analysis, computational methods, and software engineering methods.
