Purpose

To provide human resources support to the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) and reporting units.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurately submitting workday transactions including creating and editing job requisitions; candidate disposition on job requisitions; hire business processes; personnel data changes; and terminations in compliance with the University's best practices and policies.

  • Manages the lifecycle of student employment and contract worker HR processes.

  • As timekeeper, reviews and approves timesheets to ensure compliance with the University's policies.  Ensures hourly timesheets are approved prior to the payroll deadlines. Runs timekeeping reports on a frequent basis and sends reminders to employees that are behind on submitting their timesheets.

  • Provides backup support to OVPR HR team members and assists with special projects.

  • Initiates background checks and launches FWA agreements to new hires and current employees when permanent FWA changes occur.  Submits out-of-state FWA requests to the central committee for approval. Manages FWA changes in Workday. With attention to detail, prepares offer letters and personnel update letters per OVPR guidelines.

  • Accurately manages the organizational charts.

  • Manages weekly and monthly newsletters to OVPR units by drafting, editing, and sending out communications on job opportunities and new OVPR team members. Ensures regular communications are accurate and timely.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of two years' experience in HR.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail with strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and successfully manage projects.

  • Contributes within a team environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in HR in a University setting.

  • Completion of UT Austin's HR Essentials series.

  • Experience submitting business processes in Workday.

  • Familiarity with Lucid and Smartsheet.


Salary Range

$50,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions
