This appointment will be for a 12 month period and requires a weekly commitment of 20 hours (Monday – Friday, no weekends). The administrative assistantship position is part of the Educational Technology Services (ETS) team with the College of Education, which is located in the Benjamin Building at the University of Maryland, College Park.
 
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
  • provide on-site supervision of hourly student workers and operation of the ETS Technology Services Desk;
  • maintain adequate shift coverage during normal business operations;
  • oversee equipment management and distribution;
  • hire and train prospective eligible candidates;
  • conduct structured periodic performance reviews for employees;
  • organize team meetings and workshops when appropriate;
  • develop and maintain relevant internal and external documentation.

Due to the functions required for day-to-day operations, incorporating telework will not be suitable for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a Graduate Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Previous experience in a customer service role is highly desired. The candidate should be proficient using both Microsoft Office programs and G Suite applications by Google.

  • Knowledge of various types of computer systems including Windows and macOS is desirable;
  • Familiarity with audio, video, and computer equipment is a plus, but not required;
  • Previous experience working in an academic environment in a supervisory role is ideal;
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a customer friendly attitude;
  • Capable of organizing work effectively and document thoroughly;
  • Adept at working with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students in a professional manner;
  • Ability to handle multiple competing tasks simultaneously while adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Graduation date of May 2022 or later is preferred.
