The Herman R. Frazier Political Science Scholarship is awarded each year to a deserving undergraduate Political Science major. This scholarship was created to honor Mr. Frazier as both a world-class collegiate and Olympic athlete and an academic.. Mr. Frazier graduated from ASU with a B.S. in Political Science in 1977 and held multiple positions within the Intercollegiate Athletic Department from 1977-2000. This scholarship is intended for a student who is demonstrating academic excellence, particularly those interested in the relationship between collegiate or Olympic sports and politics.

Additional criteria: 

Only applicants that meet all of the following requirements will be considered for the scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a Political Science major (BA or BS) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Applicant must be a Tempe campus student.
  • Applicant must be a full-time student (enrolled in 12 semester hours).
  • Applicant must be at least a sophomore (25 hours completed on DARS).
  • Applicant must have a cumulative gpa of 3.0 or above.  
  • Note:  Students may reapply for this scholarship in subsequent years, as scholarship is not renewable.

    Application information

    Applicants must provide required information through portal app by published deadline to be considered for this scholarship. A complete application includes these documents:

  • Portal App information.
  • Academic record (official or unofficial transcript).
  • An essay of no more than two pages explaining a collegiate or Olympic sport issue and its relationship to government and/or politics. (provide answer in "Supplemental Essay" section)
