Scholarship information

This scholarship was created in 2010 to honor the memory of Harvey A. Begay by providing scholarship support for Native American undergraduate students pursuing their education at Arizona State University. Harvey A. Begay (1938-2009), a full-blooded Navajo born in Tuba City, Arizona, received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from ASU in 1961. Following graduation, Harvey served 4 years as a flight officer in the Navy and 4 years as a flight officer testing phantom jets with McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO. As a son of a noted Navajo jeweler, Harvey went on to establish himself as a renowned artist in contemporary Navajo jewelry with work featured in numerous publications and museum shows nationwide. Following Harvey's wishes, the Donor Representative seeks to support the educational aspirations of Native American undergraduate students at ASU.
