Position Summary

This position reports to the Research Program & Communications Manager with the primary focus of strengthening grant proposals, manuscripts, and reports through improved writing, design, and use of University resources. The Editor works independently and directly with faculty and research leaders to create and edit content for grants, manuscripts, reports, and research communications.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Experience with editing professional documents to include some scientific or grant writing

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have good command of the English language. Must have good editorial skills.

Ability to collaborate actively with units throughout the University to promote and strengthen the program.

Preferred Education: Master's degree

English, Health Sciences, Communications, or related field.

Preferred Experience:

Editing biomedical grants (i.e. NIH, NSF, etc) and manuscripts.

Excellent working knowledge of guidelines, rules, and procedures for writing and
submitting grant proposals within UNMC.

Experience collaborating with non-native speakers of English.

Comfortable speaking to groups on topics related to scientific writing.

Willingness to occasionally work unconventional hours to meet deadlines.
