This internship involves grant writing for the Wexner Center for the Arts, as well as other activities to support fundraising efforts. Intern reports to Linda Baird, Associate Director of Advancement Communications, [email protected] .

Responsibilities: This intern assists with writing grants and grant reports for the Wexner Center for the Arts, supporting a team that generates dozens of grants a year from foundations, government agencies, and corporate entities. In addition to writing, the position involves compiling support materials, doing research, and collaborating with colleagues across the center. Other duties include drafting written materials for use with donors, prospects, members, and supporters of the Wex, such as impact pieces, cases for support, program overviews, thank you letters, donor invitations, and member communications. The position may also entail proofreading, simple design work, meetings, data compilation, and other tasks as needed that contribute to fundraising efforts at the Wex. 

In addition to departmental responsibilities, all Wex interns participate in a center-wide internship cohort. To support this cohort, the Learning & Public Practice department offers professional development sessions and gatherings that interns are expected to attend throughout their internship. The center welcomes feedback on the internship program as a whole, and seeks to foster a collaborative and generative environment for all interns.  

Requirements:  

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Wex internships are open to:  

  • students currently enrolled in a college or university (graduating seniors, graduate students and international students are welcome) 
  • recent high school or university graduates (1–3 years post-completion) and 
  • emerging professionals with less than 5 years of experience in the arts and culture or nonprofit fields.  

Candidates must be available to work 8–10 hours a week, from late August 2024 through late April 2025. Applicants should have excellent writing and research skills; excellent grammar; an eye for detail and accuracy; a commitment to teamwork; a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital image programs; and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively online and/or in person. An interest in contemporary arts is desired. 


Additional Information:

Term: This internship takes place over the academic year (Fall 2024 – Spring 2025). Position renewal is possible. 

Compensation: Pay range is $11 - $14/hr. Amount and method of payment will be determined by candidate experience. The Wex can also support course credit work through the candidate’s home academic unit in lieu of monetary compensation, if preferred.
