Position Information

Reporting to the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), the position serves a strategic role in identifying and securing extramural funding that supports the research, instruction, and public service missions of the College. The position serves as a principal advisor to the Dean, Divisional Deans, faculty, and administration with full responsibility for identifying extramural funding opportunities and coordinating College proposal and pre-award processes. The position will have a strong focus on acquiring large multi-investigator and multidisciplinary awards. Responsibilities related to these large complex proposals will include assisting with project conceptualization, team assembly, writing portions of proposals and editing them to unify and enhance the contributions of disparate writers, and critiquing proposals to ensure they respond to needs defined by the funding program. The role reports directly to the Dean with responsibility to provide planning and advisory services to the Dean and senior College leadership in the areas of extramural funding strategies and trends. Finally, the position will also support junior leadership in the areas of extramural funding strategies and trends. Finally, the position will also support junior faculty to assist them in outlining a roadmap of funding programs to help launch their research programs, proposal organization and editing, and communication with the sponsors. The position collaborates with the Director of Communications on outreach to college constituencies; with the Assistant Dean for Development on contracts with prospective donors and research sponsors; with the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships on collaborations and research support; and with the Physical Planning Liaison to plan equipment, facilities and infrastructure grants. The position also serves as the primary contact for CNAS research collaborations and partnerships with other universities, federal/state/local agencies, and UC campuses.

The full salary range for the Grant Facilitator is $64,300.00 - $114,300.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $64,300.00 - $101,800.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.


Preferred Qualifications

Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.

Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
