A research institute of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, RENCI links people, data and resources across the UNC system, Duke University, Research Triangle Park and the State of North Carolina.  

Position Summary/Description:
This intern will work closely with the RENCI Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team and the Proposal Development Working Group. Our hope is that this person will be able to identify DEI-relevant funding opportunities for RENCI to pursue and help with the planning of RENCI DEI initiatives. Additionally, this person will help document the proposal development process at RENCI, and gain an introduction to academic grant writing and development.  
- Document eligibility rules for various funding mechanisms 
- Assist with the identification of funding possibilities for the DEI team (based on eligibility rules)
– Assist with documentation of the proposal development process 
- Assist with planning the DEI events (e.g. DivE In session) 
- Attend DEI bi-weekly meetings – Attend Proposal Development Working Group biweekly meetings  
Education and Experience
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.  This position is intended for an undergraduate or graduate student.

- Strong written communication 
- Ability to edit and analyze informational materials 
- Strong reading comprehension 
- Attention to detail 
- Interested in grant writing and/or research
