Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing is seeking applicants for a Grant Administrator 2 position.  The selected candidate will use established procedures to engage in day-to day  administration of specialized activities related to grant administration and reports to management, provide recommendation and advice to management or other groups on process related topics and conduct or carry out work procedures and activities in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as university financial and administrative policies. Major duties will include administrative, fiscal, grant, and general duties.

 

The Grant Administrator 2 position will require grant writing and grant administration. The position is housed in the University of Cincinnati, College of Nursing (CON) within the Office of Research and Scholarship (ORS). The primary duties of the Grant Administrator 2 will include writing selected training, program, and scholarship grants to advance the CON mission and strategic map, assist CON researchers to prepare and submit successful research grants, provide backup support to ORS colleagues for grant submission and reporting for training, program, and scholarship grants prepared by CON administrators, faculty, staff, and students and ensure regulatory compliance of all grants. The Grant Administrator 2 will gain understanding of CON strategic directions and search for funding sources to meet the identified strategic directions.


Essential Functions
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students with developing, submitting, and administering primarily pre-award federal, state and private research grants, contracts, and external funding sources with particular focus on budgets.
  • Implement policies that reflect continuous oversight and review of sponsored project funds to ensure that all financial transactions are in full compliance with university policies and funding agency guidelines.
  • Advise faculty and research staff with the financial management of sponsored projects to fulfill project­ related expenditure goals and objectives, subaward issuance. 
  • Assist faculty, staff, students, and senior research staff with the proposal creation, preparation and submission process to external agencies. 
  • Assist with dissemination of expertise to train future Financial Administrator 1 & 2's in the department/unit to adhere to high standards of compliance with sponsored project requirements and dissemination of knowledge of UC-based financial systems and applications to achieve financial and Human Resource objectives.
  • Complete routine work for grant applications including working with CON Administrators to develop, write, edit, and gather supporting documents for college-wide training, program, and scholarship grant proposals.  
  • Follow standard principles and systems and use appropriate terminology associated with a particular field of specialization by continuously building on current job knowledge.
  • Assist grant PIs to assure compliance with University policies and procedures, sponsor requirements, and relevant laws and regulations in research with human subjects. 
  • Provide recommended approaches, expert advice and knowledge on grant development and management to individuals and groups in order to assist them with successful training, program, or scholarship grants for their specific program within the College. 
  • Interpret information, ideas and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing including materials intended for distribution and communicating with external agencies and PIs.

Essential Functions Continued
  • Evaluate/enhance current practices and efforts to ensure optimal support of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
  • Participate in strategic planning of all ORS initiatives (pre-award, post-award, quality improvement and compliance).
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students with searching for and locating Funding Opportunity Announcements.
  • Conduct meetings with program directors (PDs), faculty and staff to identify and prioritize projects to meet the identified needs of a given academic program that are suitable for grant funding.
  • Analyze and interpret data collected by the College to inform the development of college-wide training, program and scholarship grant proposals.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

 


Required Experience
  • Two (2) years of grant and/or finance-related experience.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance.
