German Chancellor Fellowship Program

Description   The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers up to 10 fellowships for globally minded, U.S. professional leaders to develop a one-year project in Germany. This project is notable for helping fellows work toward career development. Mentors are designed to help the fellows succeed professionally in Germany. Extensive alumni support will be given, bridging career development between Germany and the candidate's home country. Depending on the candidate's strength in German language, candidates may be required to take a German language course. 
Award Amount   Monthly stipends range from $2,900 to $3,700 US dollars. Covers research. Contribution to health and liability insurance. Special allowances are available for visits by family members, travel expenses and German instruction. 
Disciplines   Open to all fields.  
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Master's Thesis. Working on Doctoral Dissertation. Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   Open only to U.S. citizens.  
Requirements   Must have completed a bachelor's degree prior to commencement of the scholarship (or less than 12 years before the beginning of the fellowship). Established contact with a mentor in Germany who agrees to provide professional and/or scholarly assistance. Before beginning the program scholars are expected to make an earnest effort to acquire German language skills. 2 references.
