Description
The Idaho Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (University of Idaho) is seeking to fill five fisheries technician positions in support of three graduate student projects focused on freshwater fisheries research and management in Idaho. Four of the positions will assist research on Bull Trout in montane streams across Idaho. Field duties will include backpack electrofishing, collecting ageing structures, and aquatic habitat surveys. All fieldwork will involve extensive hiking with weighted packs in backcountry terrain. Technicians will live and work out of remote field camps across Idaho for the duration of the position. Employment dates are flexible, but will generally extend from late May to August or early September 2022. One position will assist research on White Sturgeon in the middle Snake River. Field duties will include the use of angling, set lines, and gill nets to sample White Sturgeon. All fieldwork will be conducted from jet boats on a large river system. Technicians will live and work out of remote field camps. Employment dates are flexible, but will generally extend from May to August or early September 2022. All positions offer extensive opportunities to gain experience in fisheries and aquatic sciences and interact with fisheries professionals. All positions are full-time (40 hours per week). Qualifications
