About Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax
Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax enrolled in college in 1925, coming to Tempe, Ariz., from Kingman, Ariz. Faire’s loyalty to where she grew up led her to create scholarships for first generation college students from Mohave County, Arizona to enroll in and graduate from college. Faire graduated from Arizona State Teacher’s College, with a two-year degree in education in 1927 and started her career as a teacher. Faire taught until she was 75 years old, always had a passion for helping children learn and was devoted to making a difference in her community. She passed away at the age of 100 in June 2008. With the help of Ed and Olive Kennedy and Florence Sax, Faire established The Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax Scholarship Endowment for first generation college students studying any undergraduate major in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, ASU, Tempe campus.
