ROLE of the POSITION

This position exists to manage all event related technical and audio-visual operations for events held within SUES-managed facilities and beyond as contracted between Student Union and Event Services (SUES) and clients.  Event technology responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operating technical and AV equipment and supervising support staff during major events In charge of all event on-site production management, decision making, and operation.    Develop safety and accessibility needs for all event managed by SUES Autonomous management of audio-visual and technology equipment including maintenance, 3-year equipment purchase plan, inventory, and policy and procedure implementation Providing technical expertise in a consultant capacity to both internal and external clients. Acquire research and estimates for all equipment not owned by SUES and coordinating delivery and pick-up of rental items Conduct venue walkthroughs and ensuring equipment is set-up and/or stored properly and organized. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate AV and Event Concierge student staff teams (30+ staff) Participate in pre-event meetings as scheduled with Conference and Event Coordinators Assist Event Operations Manager with coordinating SUES' efforts for events outside of the Student Union, particularly green spaces, equipment loans, and other venues on the UNLV campus. 24 hour on-call emergency response duty as it relates to events Serve as back-up supervisor for the remaining event operation's student staff in absence of the Event Operations Manager including but not limited to student event staff, facility staff, and operations staff.

This position supervises the Audio-Visual and Event Concierge staff and is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating student staff teams.

Evening and weekend work is expected for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years knowledge and experience working with events and conference audio/visual equipment, including set-ups, connectivity, and technology are required. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Supervision experience
  • Experience working with large-scale events for multimedia needs
  • Experience with conference and reservations software systems, room diagramming software, conference housing, marketing and promotions
  • Experience working in student unions and higher education experience
  • Knowledge and experience with event setup equipment (tables, chairs, stages, trussing, etc.,) usage issues, maintenance requirements, equipment purchasing, inventory management, risk management, and staff training

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
