U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) provides opportunities for postdoctorals to research in DOE's fusion energy research and development programs for up to 2 years. Administered by Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), the research is collaborative because scholars will be able to interact with established scientists and engineers. Scholars will also be able to work with advanced equipment and facilities. Postdoctoral researchers coming from science and engineering disciplines can choose to carry out research at U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fusion Energy Sciences-supported laboratories, universities, and contractor sites.


Eligibility & Requirements

Doctoral degree within 3 years of start date. Degree must have been in an appropriate discipline of science or engineering. Selection based on academic records and research proposal. Preference is given to applicants who request a participating facility other than the one where the doctoral degree was obtained. CV. Transcripts. At least 4 Letters of Recommendation: 2 from people who can speak to the applicant's past work experiences, 2 from people who will be involved in some way with proposed research; those applying for International Travel Supplement need to submit a 5th letter from second project mentor outside the U.S.
