The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Contact Tracer to serve as a member of the COVID Testing team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Position Overview

Under the direction of the Faculty Supervisor, site supervisors, and team leads, the Testing Team will operate testing sites across campus that offer the Texas A&M Test, a saliva test for COVID-19. The Texas A&M Test is a PCR test that detects SARS-CoV-2. Testing Team members will run all aspects of the testing sites – set up sites, register and enroll testing participants, deliver testing procedures, oversee specimen collection, maintain supplies and inventories, and disinfect all surfaces, supplies, and equipment. Testing Team members will also coordinate and to work with and train volunteers at the testing sites, when needed. The Testing Team member will use our web-based data management platform (including RedCap) to document all registrations, tests, and results. The Testing Team Member is part of the COVID-19 Epidemiology response team that also includes Texas A&M faculty, project manager, epidemiology leads, case investigators, and contact tracers.

Responsibilities 

  • Receive faculty, staff, and students for testing using the web-based data management platform.

  • Collect and record information during registration, including specimen numbers and testing dates, into databases.

  • Provide instructions to campus members on provision of appropriate test specimen.

  • Adequately maintain collected specimens to preserve specimen integrity.

  • Arrive at testing sites 30-minutes before opening hours in order to set up and prepare for work; remain at testing sties 30-mintues after closing in order to break down, disinfect, and store equipment/materials.

  • Communicate with all campus members in a professional and empathetic manner.

  • Provide campus members with approved information about testing, quarantine/isolation procedures specific to Texas A&M System units across Texas, and if appropriate.

  • Escalate issues to Epidemiology lead, project manager, or Faculty Supervisor.

  • Work 15-25 hours per week, including some weekend shifts.

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma, or equivalent required

  • Enrollment in an Undergraduate degree preferred, and Undergraduate degree or Graduate program enrollment given preference

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently

  • Fluency in second or multiple languages a plus

  • Ability to work well with other team members, communicate effectively, and be an active team player is required

  • Ability to work outdoors in a designated testing center location, including testing kiosk or tent

  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to show empathy and interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Critical thinking and sound judgment required

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism required

  • Proficiency with computers and data entry into electronic tracking systems

  • Must arrive at work promptly, on-time, and adhere to schedules

Individuals selected for employment:

  • are required to follow all scripts, policies and procedures provided by Texas A&M and comply with all training regarding confidential information, privacy, and data security related to personal information.

  • must complete the following as part of onboarding:

  • “Making Contact: A Training for COVID-19 Contact Tracers ” offered by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials or Johns Hopkins University “COVID-19 Contact Tracing ”

  • Texas A&M / Texas Health and Human Services HIPAA training or approved equivalent

  • Texas A&M / Texas Health and Human Services Cybersecurity training or approved equivalent

  • RedCap and Texas Health Trace data system training

  • Texas Health and Human Services Acceptable Use Agreement

  • Texas A&M “Interviewer Techniques” training

  • Hourly Rate: $15.00

The contact tracing team will operate 7 days a week between the hours of 8am and 8pm Central Standard Time. Evening and/or weekend work is required.
