Job Summary

The CMS Module Lead - Student Financial Systems, plans, manages, and facilitates all system implementations, upgrades, ongoing maintenance and enhancements of the PeopleSoft (PS) Student Financials application, third party systems for cashiering and e-commerce, Housing interface, and interfaces to the Common Finance System (CFS) for the campus.


Key Responsibilities

Facilitates systems implementation, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, and enhancements. Translates accounting and business requirements into technical specifications. Provides input and creates detailed project plans as needed. Supports ongoing operations and maintenance of the Student Financial module and 3rd party systems by planning, communicating, and coordinating activities pertaining to upgrades, fixes, enhancements, issue-tracking, help-desk tickets and test plans.

Completes specific functional tasks e.g. term set up, including coordination of testing and validation. Performs troubleshooting/issue resolution for problems reported to the Student Finance Helpdesk. Acts as liaison with other technical areas on campus on topics related to systems utilized by Student Financials including but not limited to PeopleSofi Student Financials and Cashiering. Coordinates responses on monthly scans regarding SSN's included in files on shared drives. Represent Student Financials at PS Student weekly status meetings. Represents Long Beach at Student Financials call and Student Financials in person meetings.

  • Ability to coordinate many different project tasks, determine relative importance of each, prioritize, and set appropriate deadlines to complete all tasks accordingly.
  • Skill with organizational tools and the ability to estimate necessary tasks to complete project objectives and assess project risks is necessary.
  • Able to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing job responsibilities; effective communication, written and oral.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability and desire to work in a flexible, collaborative manner and to provide open feedback to customers, campus users, executive management, supervisors, coworkers and staff is required.
  • The ability to communicate through written documents is required. The ability to produce clear and accurate documentation, both written and graphical is required.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a four year degree in Accounting, Business, Information Management, or similar degree pertaining to accounting and systems is required. A minimum of three years of successful accounting and systems project experience is required. Four years of accounting and systems project experience is preferred. Experience working in a medium to large accounts receivable or financial office in a highly automated environment. Experience with Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Disbursements, and Collections is very desirable. Experience with the PeopleSoft Student Financial module is strongly preferred. Experience in a diverse academic organization is desirable. This position is expected to work on campus.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.


Salary

Negotiable to $7,500 per month based on experience and expertise. The salary range for this classification is $4,372 to $10,792 per month.
