Scholarship information

The Child Welfare Education Program is a collaborative effort between the Arizona State University School of Social Work and the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS). Students involved in the program receive financial assistance while pursuing their degrees in social work. In return, students contractually commit to work for DCS upon graduation. If you believe that you have the ability to make a difference for vulnerable families, then a career in child welfare may be a good fit for you. The ASU School of Social Work Child Welfare Education Program can prepare you to engage with families in a meaningful and transformational way.

Campus-based MSW Advanced Standing, MSW Standard (in-person and sync), and BSW students (juniors and/or seniors) can receive payment of their in-state tuition and mandatory student fees if they contractually agree to work full-time for the Arizona Department of Child Safety upon graduation. The work commitment varies by degree program, depending on the level of tuition assistance received and is usually between 18 months to two years. While working at DCS, CWEP alumni under contract receive the same rate of pay and benefits as all other DCS employees of the same grade.
