Scholarship information
Water scarcity. Hunger. Human Rights. Education. These vexing challenges require leaders who work diligently to find solutions. By bringing together corporate, government, nonprofit and military leaders, navigating these complex challenges can happen through collaboration and cooperation.
The Next Generation Service Corps is the first of its kind, four-year leadership development program that trains students from all majors to address these challenges. Students develop interdisciplinary networks and experience firsthand how collaboration among the public, private, nonprofit and military sectors can create meaningful change locally and globally.
While this is not a degree program, the NGSC provides a critical and marketable skill set that allows students to become transformational leaders in their fields and beyond.
This application is for all incoming ASU students interested in committing to the Next Generation Service Corps in Fall 2023. Current ASU students are not eligible to apply.
Commitment award: ASU ensures that all students in the NGSC have base tuition coverage, so we provide gap funding for whatever amount of tuition students have left after taking into account other university-based scholarships and grants. The Scholarship office calculates each students’ award individually over the summer, but after students get accepted into the program, program staff will communicate with the student how to calculate what their expected award should be.
Program participants must meet and complete all program requirements in eight (four if a Transfer student) consecutive semesters:
Over the course of their 4 (or 2 years) in the NGSC, students must:
*Complete the five required courses and workshops to earn the Cross-Sector Leadership Certificate (CSLC)
*Complete three internships at 70 hours or more--One in each of the private, public, and nonprofit sectors
*Be actively engaged with their Mission Team
*Hold one titled leadership role for a minimum of one semester
*Participate in four engagement activities each semester
*Attend two mandatory events per semester
*Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and earn 30 new credit hours per academic year
