Job Summary

The Assistant Director is a full-time employee. The Assistant Director serves as a resource and liaison for students in distress to Student Life. This role will provide support for the leadership of Student Conduct and also serve as a Conduct Case Administrator. This position also will serve a critical role in the tracking and administration of COVID-19-related disciplinary matters. The Assistant Director for Student Conduct reports directly to the Director for Student Conduct. This position does require some night and weekend responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • As part of the Student Conduct team, implement, and oversee departmental mission, vision, values and goals during a time of significant departmental development.
  • Serve as a Conduct Case Administrator for all levels of conduct cases, primarily those involving student organizations or off-campus party complaints, including those related to the tracking and compliance of COVID-19 related incidents.
  • Create and implement training and development with regards to Organizational Student Conduct for the conduct board and conduct advisors
  • Schedule hearings and appeal boards as needed, with specific oversight of organizational cases.
  • Collaborate with other campus partners (Fraternity and Sorority Life, Campus Engagement, Athletics, Public Safety), on case management and student follow up.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for response related to student behavior concerns in the Powelton Village and surrounding neighborhoods
  • Conduct investigations for all hazing reports involving individual students and student organizations
  • Provide resources to student organizations regarding sanctions, including suspension of recognition or interim measures.
  • Develop and implement training and outreach opportunities for organizational leaders regarding critical conduct topics, such as hazing, party protocol, and COVID-19 compliance
  • Implement assessment efforts related to student conduct, including ongoing assessment of organizational trends and COVID-19 incidents.
  • Track cases and sanctions for the department, including cases assigned to HRL staff members.
  • Keep up to date on best practices in the field of Student Conduct, and make recommendations on changes to policy and practice.
  • Escalate reports and incidents as necessary if interim measures may be appropriate.
  • Expert in the judicial software system(s), experience with Maxient a plus.
  • Work with the Office of Equality and Diversity on training, and adjudication of the policies in their purview.
  • Lead special projects for the department.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Candidate must have a proven track-record of excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and function within a team.
  • Candidates must be able to manage competing priorities and function in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the higher education or student affairs preferred. Experience in case management, triage, and crisis intervention is appreciated.
