What You Will Do

The Acquisition Services Division (ASM) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking qualified Supply Chain Management, Business, (Junior/Senior), or data analytics student seeking a challenging paid internship in a business management role. Candidates must be admitted or active in a graduate program and have a minimum GPA of a 3.0/4.0 for consideration.

The Acquisition Services Division delivers world-class service and value to our Laboratory customers in the areas of Procurement, Center of Excellence, Compliance, Operations, and Supplier Management outreach to enable the Laboratory to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence.

Capital Projects: Overview

  • Project-based procurement for Capital Projects and projects at CMRR, as well as line-item projects budgeted for more than $20 million
  • Manage procurement for facility upgrades, expansions, and new construction
  • Manage procurement of goods and services

Center of Excellence: Overview

·         Strategic Sourcing, including category and catalog management

·         Business Optimization

o   Business process mapping and optimization

    • Global Security (ALDGS) - the program’s focus is in Nuclear Nonproliferation, Nuclear Counterproliferation, and Counter Terrorism - focusing on known and emerging threats including bio, cyber, and space
    • Physical Sciences (ALDPS) – the program’s efforts are in materials science and experimental physics to programs and problems of national importance. The success of our science requires world-class research and processing facilities, including our LANL-based national user facilities: LANSCE, CINT, and NHMFL
    • Simulation & Computation (ALDSC) – the program’s focus are Excellence in Mission-Focused Science, Technology and Engineering: Advancing the frontiers of computing to exascale and beyond.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest and success in business management

  • Experience providing excellent customer service

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects

  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing

  • Critical thinking and decision making capabilities

  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale completed within the last three years.

Desired Skills:

  • For the Capital Projects group, an interest and aptitude in technical areas and construction is a plus

Additional Details
