Job Description:

The Bellarmine University Business Affairs office is looking for an Accounting Assistant for Payroll and Scholarships.  This is a regular, full-time position with the normal office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position will perform entry-level and mid-level accounting support functions in the Business Affairs Office including: processing and maintaining accounting documents and records in the areas of payroll and student scholarships timely and accurately, as received through the payroll workflow process;  assisting with year-end close and financial and 403(b) audits; calculate and deposit all appropriate taxes, retirement, and section 125 payroll deductions timely; assisting with various salary-related analysis projects.   Administrative personnel occasionally work extra hours to complete important tasks.  The job location is in the Business Office located in Centro, Horrigan Hall.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration

Two years of experience in accounting, or other professional work requiring focus, organization, and attention to detail.  Previous experience performing some of the essential responsibilities listed above.  Ability to work independently.  Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.  Reliable and self-motivated with high ethical standards.  The successful accounting clerk will have natural aptitude for and an enjoyment of accounting tasks.  A High School Diploma is required.   Ability to work from home if needed.

Preferred Qualifications for Consideration

Associates degree in accounting; excellent communication skills.  Ability to work well with university faculty and staff.  Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.  Excellent skills in MS Excel.  The ability to self-prioritize to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
