The Hypnotherapist, under direction from Director of the Maternal Mental Health Clinic (MMHC), will collaborate with all members of the MMHC staff and faculty to promote the improvement of the quality of life for patients. The Hypnotherapist will provide hypnotherapy and other complementary healing modalities as part of the comprehensive treatment plan for women in the MMH Intensive Outpatient Program and traditional outpatient clinic. The Hypnotherapist will conduct and provide education to staff and faculty regarding the initiation of services. The Hypnotherapist provides education to patients regarding the use of hypnotherapy and other treatment modalities offered within MMHC and/or UCSD. The Hypnotherapist will assist in the development and implementation of the hypnotherapy program in the UC San Diego Maternal Mental Health Clinic.

WORK LOCATION: La Jolla Professional Building

  • At least 5 years of experience in clinical practice; possess appropriate training in hypnotherapy and treatment of emotional disorders. Advanced degree in psychology, mental health or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of hypnotherapy techniques and treatment modalities. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Healing Touch techniques and treatment modalities.

  • Experience in using hypnotherapy and other complementary techniques with patients who have experienced and/or are grieving a significant loss.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and writing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact and work with diverse population of patients, staff and faculty.

  • Experience in working with pregnant or postpartum women suffering from perinatal mood or anxiety disorders (preferred).

  • Demonstrated completion of specialized training in hypnotherapy by certification from the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners or equivalent certification.

  • Pre-employment physicals, annual TB Test and required immunization required upon hire.

  • Background check clearance required prior to employment.

  • CPR certificate.
