Job Description:

Data Analysis and Reporting: The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for analyzing data trends and patterns to support strategic decision-making within the Extension. Collaborating with the Director of Business Intelligence, they will interpret complex data sets and produce comprehensive reports, ensuring that insights are communicated effectively to stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of data analytics tools and methodologies.

BI Tools and Dashboard Development: Tasked with developing and maintaining business intelligence tools, databases, and dashboards, the Analyst will work closely with the Technical Writer to ensure that all documentation for these tools is clear and precise. They will create intuitive dashboards that track Extension programs’ key performance indicators, providing real-time insights to the Director, Initiative Team Leadership, and the rest of the Extension Administrative team.

Strategic Planning Support: In support of Extension's AI/BI strategic planning process, the Analyst will work with the Management Analyst to align business intelligence initiatives with initiatives goals. They will provide data-driven insights and forecasts to assist in formulating short-, medium-, and long-term strategies, directly impacting the allocation of resources and prioritization of projects.
Grant Data Management: The Analyst will manage and analyze data related to grants, including the recently acquired $2.7 million funding for Extension’s AI/BI Initiative. By working with the Director of Business Intelligence and Business Services, they will ensure that grant-related data are accurately captured, reported, and utilized for continuous funding opportunities and compliance with grant requirements.
Collaborative Project Leadership: Acting as a project leader for specific BI initiatives, the Analyst will ensure cross-functional collaboration between the Director of Business Intelligence, Technical Writer, and Management Analyst. They will lead efforts to integrate business intelligence into all aspects of Extension programming, specifically key performance indicators to be utilized by Extension’s Program Evaluators, driving data-centric decision-making, and optimizing operational efficiency.  

Expected Salary:

$60,369 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and five years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Academic background and experience in selected area of research required, or other applicable academic field as evidenced by an advanced degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field, with a strong academic background in quantitative analysis.

Experience working in a business intelligence role, with demonstrated proficiency in Tableau Desktop Developer, Data Prep, and Server, Power BI, and Microsoft Office 365.
Proficiency in statistical programming with R and/or Python, with experience applying these skills to large datasets.
Experience in designing and implementing BI solutions, data modeling, and developing dashboards that enhance decision-making processes.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and turn it into actionable insights, as well as strong communication skills to convey these insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong oral and written communication skills. In-depth experience writing about business intelligence strategies for both technical reviewers and the public as well as assisting with writing of reports for government agencies.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.

Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical and visionary skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results. Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers, managers, and teams.

Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure proper and consistent formatting of BI solutions. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and deliver in a timely fashion.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional overtime and/or weekend work based on project needs.

COMMUNICATION

As a central figure in communication for UF/IFAS Extension, the Business Intelligence Analyst will frequently interact with both internal and external parties. Working in close partnership with the Director of Business Intelligence, they will convert complex analytical results into actionable insights that align with the strategic objectives of Extension. They play a guiding role for the Technical Writer and Management Analyst in integrating BI insights into organizational documents. Additionally, their collaboration with Extension's Program Evaluators is essential to develop, track, and report on KPIs that support ongoing Program Evaluation. This will involve presenting data-driven narratives to stakeholders and contributing to the strategic planning and communication that underscore the effectiveness and progress of Extension's AI/BI initiative.
