Summary

The Salam Scholarships were established in 2023 to support Palestinian women to study at Ulster University.

They aim to provide opportunities for Palestinian women with ability and potential, but limited opportunity, to access Ulster University studies.

The programme will provide students and young professionals with educational and training opportunities that will help their career development, enabling them to achieve impact in their chosen fields.

The Salam Scholarships are open to applications from all PhD subject areas.

For the academic year 2024/25, two PhD scholarships for Palestinian women will be supported.

The scholarships will cover:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • Full costs of accommodation.
  • One return flight home for each year of study.
  • A stipend to cover other living costs.

*Funding will be for scholarship recipients only and not for any accompanying dependents (where relevant).

    Essential criteria

Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study.

We may also consider applications from those who hold equivalent qualifications, for example, a Lower Second Class Honours Degree plus a Master’s Degree with Distinction.

In exceptional circumstances, the University may consider a portfolio of evidence from applicants who have appropriate professional experience which is equivalent to the learning outcomes of an Honours degree in lieu of academic qualifications.
