Applications are invited for nine Teaching Associate posts in the School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University. Posts are available on a part-time (0.5FTE) basis. Part-time posts will be accompanied with the opportunity to also study towards a PhD part-time, with all associated tuition fees paid and a pro-rata stipend of £8,031, in one of the School’s research groups. The successful candidates will be dedicated to finding creative solutions and have a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm to deliver high-quality teaching and rigorous assessment for existing modules on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas of computer science, informatics and data science.
Working closely with the Director of Learning & Teaching, you will assist in the organisation and running of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and provision of the student experience. You will also be supported towards gaining recognition as an Associate Fellow of AdvanceHE (AFHEA).

The application process for the PhD is completely separate, and will not be offered alongside the contract of employment. Note that PhD tuition fees will be waived and the stipend paid for the period that you remain as a member of staff (minimum 33% contract) only.  The University is not able to offer PhDs to overseas students for part-time study if a Tier 4 study visa is required.  The next PhD intake is October and following intakes are 1st January, 1st April and you will be required to start your PhD within 6 months of your employment start date, should you wish to proceed with this arrangement.
About the School: Cardiff University has a large and successful School of Computer Science & Informatics which is well resourced and enjoys an international reputation for both its teaching and research activities. The School of Computer Science & Informatics is based in the new Abacws building within the city centre of Cardiff, and also includes the National Software Academy (NSA), which is based in Newport and delivers industry-focused undergraduate and postgraduate Software Engineering programmes. Teaching in the School currently covers two sites, with Software Engineering delivered at the National Software Academy in Newport, and all other programmes are delivered at our Cardiff site, between the brand new Abacws Building and a number of refurbished facilities within the Queen’s Buildings.

These posts are available as a part-time role (17.5 hours per week) with the opportunity to study part-time for a PhD qualification. All roles are available on a fixed-term basis for five years. The package offered if accepted for a part-time PhD includes all tuition fees and an annual stipend payment of ££8,031 (50% of fees). Salary: £27,924 - £32,344 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 5)
