The role will involve the development and delivery of training within the Student Life Team, within which there are two services: the Peer Wellbeing Support service and Living Support Service.

The Peer Wellbeing Support service focuses on training students to offer a Listening Service to their fellow students across the University. They undergo a 9-week training program and are then supported through regular supervision sessions to run a confidential listening service – supporting their fellow students in relation to day-to-day concerns like anxiety, stress and relationship concerns.

The Living Support Service runs within our University of Glasgow Halls of Residence. The Living support service is made up of Wardens who are employed and Living Support Assistants who live on site and provide on hand peer support for students out of hours. Their role is to be on hand to offer peer support in relation to wellbeing needs that arise in University accommodation. This could be support mediating disputes with flat-mates, a listening ear, signposting to University services and in crisis situations Living support are on hand to call on University and Community Emergency support services.

The role of Student Life trainer will be to provide training for members of both the Peer Wellbeing and Living Support services. The training will support individuals within these teams to develop in their capacity as listeners and supporters for students within halls and in the wider student population.
