£20,092 - £22,847 per annum

Duties of the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join the busy Student Information Team, delivering flagship services to our students as an adviser.

The successful candidate will be committed to providing the highest levels of customer service to deliver frontline services dealing with initial queries from students on a wide range of subjects.

All this means that in any one day you might be advising a student who wants to move flats; telling a student about scholarship deadlines; helping to explain the appeals process to a student; taking a payment; or booking a distressed student into a meeting with a member of the wellbeing team.

You will be dealing with students in person in the hub as well as answering phone, live chat and email queries. You will also be working with a lot of different IT systems to find information to help answer students’ queries and to record interactions. You will need to have a flexible approach to your work, as the nature of this role involves working on different desks in a working day.

Skills and qualifications required

To be successful you will need a good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft packages.  It is essential that you have experience of delivering great customer service and excellent communication skills.

In our fast paced environment, you will thrive on working on multiple queries whilst remaining  patient and maintaining a confident and pleasant manner.  Your effective organisational and administrative skills will ensure that you work accurately and with attention to details to ensure our students needs are met.

You will be a quick learner who is able to develop and maintain a broad knowledge base about how things work at Essex. You will need to work well with other members of the team and with colleagues across the university.
