Contract/Fixed Term: This post is funded until 31 July 2023 in the first instance.

UCL aims to distinguish itself as a university that offers a rich on-campus experience and supports its students to a consistently high standard. We believe that a focus on each and every student, alongside building a diverse and engaged community, is vital to helping students have quality student life and achieve their full potential at UCL and beyond.

Student Advisers will be co-ordinated through Student Support and Wellbeing but embedded in UCL’s departments. Student Advisers will have a set of core responsibilities, as outlined in the job description, but responsibilities and the full extent of each Student Adviser’s activities will be further tailored to the needs and nuances of the academic unit they are assigned to.

Student Advisers provide a key point of contact for undergraduate students in particular, but can also support appropriate activities across all taught student groups within their department. Student Advisers work alongside colleagues in departments to strengthen the local support provision and facilitate effective connection with students. Student Advisers complement the work of personal tutors, academics, teaching and learning staff, and peer support programmes within their department.

Proven experience in role/s which involve supporting others, preferably in an educational setting, mental health, social work or coaching. This is alongside demonstrable interest in students’ wellbeing and success and the ability to put forward creative approaches to problem solving and to respond flexibly to planning and change within general policies, procedures and guidelines. Being supportive, respectful and kind to others as well as proven ability to work successfully in a team are further key pre-requisite for these roles.
