We are recruiting to the post of Senior Student Funding Officer (SFO), a member of the Student Funding team based in UCL’s Student and Registry Services (SRS) Division. We co-ordinate the provision of funding support and advice to UCL students. The role is based in the Post Graduate Funding sub team which covers loans, scholarships and bursaries for Masters, Research and Initial Teacher Training plus UCL’s Financial Assistance Fund and US and Canadian loans.

We are looking for a highly proficient individual with the ability to improve and innovate. You should have great organisational skills, customer service and communication abilities and be confident with database management and finance. The post holder will manage specific postgraduate award schemes as allocated by the Student Funding Manager, from promotion to payment of schemes, post award administration, support of scholars and associated annual financial returns.

You will work closely with the Student Funding Manager to help develop policy and identify and implement process efficiencies, deputising when necessary. You will be handling student and staff enquiries, You will also participate in open day events, and maintaining strong links with both internal and external stakeholders.

One Student Funding Officer reports to your role. You will be responsible for their development, training and performance.

Candidates must have experience of working in Higher Education in a busy student facing administrative office environment. A working knowledge of student finance systems is essential. Previous supervisory experience is desirable. Applicants for this role must be educated to A-level or equivalent, including proficiency in English and Mathematics.

Excellent IT skills, including the ability to maintain databases and online content with accuracy, are an essential part of this role. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required, with the ability to communicate complex information in various written formats and through presentations. In this role, you will also be required to organise student funding related events.

To be successful in this role you will need to be proactive, be able to work independently when necessary and have a practical approach to problem solving. We are looking for the ability to adapt to the demands of a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail. You must also be tactful and diplomatic with a regard for confidentiality in communications within and beyond the UCL community.
