We are seeking to appoint a new full time, Senior Lecturer on a permanent basis from August 2023 to join a thriving, dynamic and international Law School.

The role

You will contribute effectively to teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and provide collaborative and supportive leadership in the development of innovative, effective and sustainable education and pedagogy in the School.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate significant experience in legal education, and sustained engagement with and contribution to educational development and scholarship relevant to learning, teaching and/or student experience.

The successful candidate will have evidence of previous teaching on one or more of the following core modules: Legal Foundations, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Land Law, Equity and Trusts, EU Law. In addition, we particularly welcome applications from those with experience in teaching one or more of the following subjects: Company Law, Commercial Law, Medical Law, Clinical Legal Education. Applicants who are interested in active, applied or problem-solving based learning would be particularly encouraged. The successful candidates will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to make a positive contribution to citizenship and engagement in the life of the School.

This role may offer the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

About you

You will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD in Law or equivalent, of the core knowledge relating to Law in order to teach and support learning on Law School modules
  • Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline as might be expected of a very experienced HE Teacher
  • Contribute to the design, development and delivery a range of modules or programmes at various levels; applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques; identifying sources of funding and securing funds for own scholarly activities and providing academic leadership to those working within programme areas
  • Be expected to work towards Principal Fellow of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this
