Description

The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) Scholarship funds one year of tuition fees for the MSc in Applied Marine and Fisheries Ecology for a student who wishes to pursue a career in aquaculture. Recipients undertake their research project on an industry-identified issue relevant to Scottish aquaculture, giving a heightened awareness of the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector.

In addition, SAIC hosts a series of workshops throughout the academic year, which give the perspective of sector professionals and allow students to make valuable connections for their future career, and network with peers at other universities.


Eligibility

Applicants must meet Scottish Funding Council residency criteria; i.e. have been a permanent resident of Scotland for at least three years prior to the start of the programme (i.e. living in Scotland for a purpose other than studying).

Please note, this scholarship is open to applicants for the MSc in Applied Marine & Fisheries Ecology in Scotland.


Criteria

The scholarship may only be taken up if the applicant enrols on the MSc degree programme in Applied Marine and Fisheries Ecology.

The student must commit to undertaking their research project on an industry-identified issue relevant to Scottish aquaculture.

For an initial expression of interest in the SAIC scholarship, please contact the programme coordinator of MSc Applied Marine & Fisheries Ecology. Subsequently, send a CV and written statement of approximately 250 words detailing the applicant’s background, interests in aquaculture, career goals, and indicating provisionally the research areas within which they would like to undertake their project (which should be relevant to aquaculture in Scotland).
