Other eligibility criteria
This award is available to existing postgraduate students.
Current students who have already accepted an offer of a full scholarship for September 2024 entry are ineligible to apply.
PhD students who have already received the Sasakawa studentship may be nominated again, and receive the studentship for up to three years, through repeated awards cannot be guaranteed.

Selection criteria
Applications will be ranked according to two key criteria: academic track-record, and the quality of the research proposal.

Applicants must submit the online application for a place on your chosen doctoral programme in the School by 12 January 2024 at the latest. All supporting documentation, including references, must be submitted by that date. Please submit the completed Sasakawa Funding Application Form by 5pm GMT, Thursday 29 February 2024, at the latest. Please note that this is a strict deadline and applications received after 5pm will not be included in the competition.
