About The Role

This is an exciting career opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Bio-engineer to join our Animal Cells group, led by Dr Joe Mee. The Animal Cells group develops bespoke cell lines for in vitro research, cellular agriculture, bioassays and cell therapies. The group are at the forefront of animal stem cell technologies, having derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) from species such as the pig and dog. The group is currently expanding its species coverage to ruminants. You will be involved in developing the technologies and processes required for culture scale-up and bioprocessing of our livestock cell lines for cellular agriculture. This will involve designing and conducting experiments in bioreactors,

Essential Skills:

  • PhD in bioengineering or clearly related discipline
  • Experience of mammalian cell scale up systems
  • Experience of operating various bioreactors
  • Ability to develop and test protocols
  • Ability to deliver a research project, including design and execution of experiments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills in the use of Office software

Desirable Skills:

  • Industry experience or working to GMP standards
  • Practical experience of working in the area of cultivated meat, ideally focusing on the scale up aspect.
  • Experience in project delivery/report writing and/or commercial R&D projects
  • Experience in supervision/training of personnel

Fixed term full-time contract.Available immediately for 18 months initially, with further extension intended. Salary £33 797 to £40 322 depending on experience & qualifications.
