About this position 

Position is open in Radek Marek’s research group for the study of transition-metal complexes as new candidates for metallodrugs. The successful applicant will synthesize platinum and/or ruthenium compounds with specifically designed ligands, investigate the host-guest chemistry of new compounds with macrocycles, and perform advanced NMR characterization of HG assemblies (e.g., IC 10.1021/acs.inorgchem.1c02467; IC 10.1021/acs.inorgchem.9b01203; CRPS 10.1016/j.xcrp.2023.101461; JACS 10.1021/jacs.6b02749). Modern synthetic laboratories and state-of-the-art structural techniques (including high-field NMR in solution and solid state) are available in the group or in core facilities at Masaryk University accessible to all trained group members.

We are seeking a creative, independent and goal-oriented individual with proven experience related to this position. Candidates with previous research experience in (bio)inorganic or supramolecular chemistry are encouraged to apply.

You have (necessary competencies) 

  • A master degree or equivalent in (bio)inorganic, supramolecular, structural chemistry or interdisciplinary sciences received in the period 1/1/2023-31/7/2024
  • Experience in chemistry of transition metals or supramolecular chemistry 
  • Interpersonal skills required to collaborate in the research group and to supervise junior members of the research group
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • The position will require admission to the PhD program at Masaryk University
