The Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics (AIFL) invites applications for up to three fully-funded PhD studentships from strong candidates in any area of forensic linguistics or language and law.
AIFL is one of four University Research Institutes of Aston University and is situated in the College of Business and Social Science. It operates under different centres of Activity including a Centre for Forensic Text Analysis and Centre for Language and law, a Centre for Spoken Interaction in legal Contexts and a Centre for Forensic Speech Science. We are offering two directed PhD studentships in the areas of Forensic Text Analysis and Language and Law, respectively, and one open call studentship – for more detail see link below.
The studentships are for full-time study over three years, commencing 1st October 2022 with a completion date of 30th September 2025.
Financial Support
Will be provided to the successful applicant to cover tuition fees at either the Home or Overseas rate plus a maintenance grant.
Person Specification
The successful applicant should have a first class or upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area. They should have, or be near to completing, a postgraduate qualification such as a Masters degree or equivalent. An overall merit grade with merit in the dissertation is normally required.
