Academic requirements
- Bachelor's (Honours) degree at 2:1 or above (or overseas equivalent); and
- Master's degree in a relevant subject - with an overall average of 65% or above, a minimum mark of 65% in your dissertation and no mark below 55% (or overseas equivalent)

You must submit your online application for a place on PhD Humanitarianism & Conflict Response by 12 January 2024. Please indicate in section 9 of the application your intention to apply for a Humanitarianism & Conflict Response Studentship.
To enter the PhD Humanitarianism & Conflict Response Studentship competition, you must submit an application for one or both of the following competitions:
AHRC North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWCDTP)
ESRC North West Social Science DTP (NWSSDTP)
Your PhD Humanitarianism & Conflict Response Studentship application will be considered based on your programme application; supporting documents; and your NWCDTP or NWSSDTP application.

Your full online application must include:
- A 1,500 word PhD research proposal
- Copies of the academic transcript and certificate from both your Bachelor's and Master's degrees. If your Master's degree is pending, please provide an interim transcript
- An up to date academic CV, detailing your education and qualifications; employment history; publications; and any other relevant information
- You must nominate two academic referees (including one from your most recent institution). Your referees will be contacted directly via the Referee Portal following submission of your application form.
- If you are not from a majority English speaking country, you must additionally provide English Language evidence (e.g IELTS).

Please note that these are strict deadlines and late or incomplete applications will not be included in the competition.
Decision date
We expect to communicate the outcome to applicants by May 2024.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide feedback on individual applications, as outcomes are determined by independent panels.
Deferral information
Offers of funding are not deferrable. If you cannot start your programme by the date mentioned in your studentship offer letter, the award will be withdrawn. You are permitted to re-apply in future.
