PhD Studentship: Protein Aggregation

Updated: over 2 years ago
Location: Cambridge, ENGLAND
Deadline: 02 Dec 2021

Applications are invited for a PhD student to work with Professors Knowles and Mallucci on a project exploring the molecular basis of aberrant signalling pathways triggered by protein aggregation. This project brings together the expertise of Professor Mallucci in cellular and animal models of protein misfolding diseases with that of Professor Knowles on protein biophysics.

Applicants must have (or expect to obtain) at least the equivalent of a UK upper second class Masters degree in the molecular sciences, broadly defined, including chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology. Applicants should have an interest in working in a highly interdisciplinary environment with colleagues from both a clinical and a biophysical background.

The studentship is available from April 2022 or October 2022, and provides a maintenance grant and tuition fees at the UK rate. Non-UK applicants can be considered only if they are able to fund the overseas fees differential or if they are awarded a suitable scholarship.

Information about the Knowles and Mallucci research groups can be seen at: https://www.ch.cam.ac.uk/person/tpjk2 https://www.neuroscience.cam.ac.uk/directory/profile.php?gm522

Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, academic transcripts, and contact details for at least two academic referees, and be emailed to: Echo Wu, Knowles Group Administrator (email: [email protected] ).
