A full-time three-year PhD studentship selected from ENGINEERING, DESIGN, ENVIRONMENT, MATERIALS, ENERGY and ELECTRONICS is available, commencing 1 October 2021. The studentship covers full-time fees, includes a stipend (£15,609 per annum in 2020/2021), plus an additional annual research allowance.
Students will be expected to undertake their research study at the Open University Campus in Milton Keynes[i] - a well-connected and growing modern town, situated on the Oxford-Cambridge arc and just over half an hour’s train journey from London. The School of Engineering and Innovation has a large postgraduate student community and provides a friendly and flexible working environment for all its staff and students, with well-resourced laboratories and workshops.

Overseas applicants are welcomed. Those from a country that is not majority English-speaking must hold an Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) purposes, with an average score of 6.5 and no less than 6.0 in any of its four categories at the time of applying.
