Applications are invited from suitably qualified Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences, Biotechnology and Pharmacy graduates, for a fully funded 4-year PhD studentship at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemistry for a start in October 2018.
We are looking to recruit students interested in a wide range of research areas and examples include the following:
Catalysis, including biocatalysts
Electrochemistry and photochemistry
About the Centre
The Centre is developed in collaboration with industry and as a partnership of several disciplines including Chemistry, Biosciences and Engineering.With student-centred approach as its main ethos, the Centre delivers a high quality multidisciplinary training programme delivering the skills in the areas of business and innovation, science communication, project management, team work and career development.
During the first year on the programme the students will, supported by the CDT staff and academics from Biosciences, Engineering and Chemistry, develop their research proposal in partnership with a relevant industry partner.
In addition, a part of the training programme, the students are strongly encouraged to carry out an external placement in industry, another research institution or other organisation.

Ideally, candidates are expected to hold at least an upper second class honours degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences, Biotechnology or Pharmacy from a 4-year undergraduate course or a 3-year undergraduate course plus a Masters degree.
