General:
The University of Gloucestershire is looking to PhD researchers in the Technical and Applied Computing subject area to join our dynamic, successful and expanding community. Located at the beautiful Park Campus in Cheltenham, the University is investing heavily in staff and facilities. Student applications are rising rapidly and last year we opened our new state of the art Computing research labs.
We are looking for PhD applications from Computing specialists who will ideally have experience of research in Higher Education and have an interest in research and development in a Computer Science area. The applicant(s) should have technical and research skills in networking, cybersecurity, programming, Mathematic and/or data science. The successful PhD researcher candidate(s) will offer the opportunity delivering a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Applicants must also have a demonstrable high level of technical skills and excellence in the use of Windows and Linux-based operating systems and other relevant tools. Recent industry knowledge is desirable and an enthusiasm to publish in conference and journal would be an advantage. The appointee(s) will need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrable success when working in a team environment.
The successful candidate(s) who secures a PhD Fees-only studentship, it will cover Home or International tuition fees, and they will work in one of the following research areas:
- Digital forensic architecture
- Industry 4.0 security
- Cyber-physical system
- Trust management for in Heath-Tech
- SDN and NFV based secure cloud environment
- Virtualized cybersecurity for cloud computing
- Blockchain and distributed ledger technology
- Or other related areas approved by supervisor
How to apply:
Applicants should have an Honours Degree at 2.1 or above (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related disciplines. In addition, they should have excellent programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Java, Python) and good working knowledge of mathematics.
