PhD Candidate within Digitalization and Automated Vehicles

Updated: 5 months ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 04 Jun 2019

About the position

Within a few years a huge change is expected in the transport sector with a transition to automated vehicles. This PhD position will do research on impacts from automation and digitalization on efficiency, safety and the environment under the specific Nordic conditions.

Future vehicles will probably be more controlled by network solutions, and less by car drivers. The transition period will consist of a mixture between traditional vehicles and vehicles with semi- and full automation. What are the infrastructural requirements for future transport? Which traffic will be replaced by automated vehicles? How fast will the transition be? A lot of questions arise within these topics, and research is needed to be prepared and exploit the possibilities and avoid the potential negative impacts on traffic safety and environment.

The position reports to Associate Professor Trude Tørset. The position is also connected to the Traffic Engineering Research Centre.
