The award includes cover for UK home tuition fees and subject to eligibility, a stipend at standard RCUK rates. For 2021-2022 this is set at £15,609. Applicants must be UK nationals or have permanent UK residence status.

Job information

The University of Bedfordshire are pleased to offer a full-time Masters by Research studentship in the subject area of User Interface (UI) design for Business Management Systems (BMS). This exciting new studentship has been made available through the collaboration of the Institute for Research in Applicable Computing, Life Science Group Ltd and the Productivity Escalator project, a part funded ERDF project run by the University of Bedfordshire.

This project builds on Life Science Group’s history as a fast-growing company and reflects on the implications for the various forms of Business Management Software (BMS) that underpins, supports, and drives their day-to-day processes. This research project seeks to investigate these issues and propose solutions to facilitate a smooth transition from small to large scale. It will explore design and UI features of BMS when companies transition from small start-ups to a medium size with the perspective to grow further.  The research will use Life Science Group as case study and as the main source for data collection.

The applicant

Applicants with a strong background in Management and Information Technology are encouraged to apply. In consultation with the supervisory team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the final project outline to ensure that it draws on the student’s interests, background and research expertise. The studentship holder will be key in delivering the programme of work outlined above.

Applicants need to submit a 1,000 word proposal (excluding references) setting out how they would approach the proposed subject area as a Masters by Research study. In addition to a CV, applicants will need to send a cover letter with supporting information on their experience and skills and how these relate to the advertised Masters by Research.
