This role is open to current employees at the University of Leeds only.
Are you interested in undertaking a developmental project exploring and evaluating how staff are engaging with the University’s equity-focused pedagogic priorities?
We are inviting applications for a commissioned, LITE Fellowship to join the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE). LITE embodies the University’s commitment to excellence and innovation in education through its investment in a community of Fellows, giving colleagues the opportunity to develop and implement projects and establish a culture of high-quality teaching innovation, scholarship and leadership.
The Fellowship will explore, and evaluate, how staff are engaging with the University’s equity-focused pedagogic priorities, as articulated in its Curriculum Redefined project, Access and Student Success Strategy, and aligned initiatives such as Decolonising the Curriculum and Inclusive teaching and assessment. The overarching aim of these priorities is to close the ‘award’ gap for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups, as well as improve non-continuation results and better graduate outcomes.
As well as carrying out your project, you will be expected to contribute to LITE’s scholarly community, provide content towards the digital and external-facing profiles, and act as an ambassador at internal and external events. You will evaluate and disseminate the impact of your project internally through research progress showcases and externally to develop the practice, pedagogy and reputation of student education at the University.
Details of the Fellowship
This fellowship is offered as an opportunity for colleagues looking to develop research skills in their area of teaching and learning. The fellowship will be closely supported by Professor Jacqueline Stevenson, as your project sponsor with project implementation, dissemination and impact and other development activities as required.
The Fellowship will be funded at the equivalent level of 40% of current salary, if delivered over one year, or 20% if delivered over 2 years. The funding will normally be taken as secondment from current duties and we are particularly keen to encourage applications from professional services staff who are under-represented within the LITE community. The project must include a contribution from the student body in an advisory or partnership role.
An allocation of funds of £5,000 will be available to support your project, e.g. events, materials, travel and subsistence, conference attendance, dissemination activities and equipment.
Support will also be provided by the LITE professional service team, including access to a resident research assistant with experience of pedagogical research techniques and student facilitators.
Conditions of fellowships
• All applicants must be employed in a substantive role at the University for the whole period of the secondment.
• Funding is for up to 0.4 FTE for one year or 0.2 FTE for two years.
The applicant would be expected to apply for fellowship or associate fellowship status during their time with LITE. Further details can be found on the Student Education Development pages
