Lecturer in Medieval History (Education and Scholarship)

This full time role is available 1 August 2023 until 31 July 2024.

The role

You will be able to design, develop, produce, and deliver teaching and learning material across a range of modules, within the area of Medieval History, and the history of Medieval Europe and Medieval Paris in particular. You will be able to teach a broad range of topics, contributing to the teaching of core modules at all levels, as well as supervising independent research projects in your specialist field. You will have a keen interest in Decolonising the Curriculum, which is a priority for the Department, Faculty, and wider University. You will also be expected to act as Personal Tutor for undergraduate students, and to play a part in the administrative work of the department, when required.  This is a non-renewable, maternity-leave cover post.

About you

You will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent in Medieval History to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching
