Project description:

The PhD programme in the Business School at Bangor has been described by external experts as ’second to none in the UK’. Our role of PhD throughput is amongst the highest in the UK and we have ESRC (now WGSSS) recognition for our research training (MSc to PhD) in Management and Business.

We will encourage and facilitate joint supervision across institutions where appropriate.

Applications are invited for a competitive fully-funded PhD studentship in the Bangor Business School at Bangor University, Wales. We will be considering PHD research proposals in the following areas:

Consumer behaviour, organisational behaviour, data analytics, tourism, destinations and place engagement, responsible banking, financial innovation, accounting, marketing, business and management.

Eligibility:

To receive ESRC studentship funding, you must have qualifications or experience equal to an honours degree at a first or upper second-class level, or a master's from a UK academic research organisation. Please note that you may need to provide evidence of your English Language proficiency.

Bangor University, in conjunction with colleagues in the WGSS, will undertake an assessment of the successful applicant’s training needs and work with them to tailor the training they are offered to meet their research needs.

This may include:

  • 3.5 - 4.5 years programme – support for a research training PhD and placement, particular where indicated by the WGSSS’s EDI and Widening Participation goals

Short-listed applicants will be invited to interview. As part of the interview process, applicants will be asked to give a short presentation and answer a series of panel questions consistent with previous practice on the pathway during the Wales DTP, and guided by the WGSSS’s commitments on EDI.

Interviews may be held in person, but should also be available through Zoom/Teams for all students who wish to participate in that way.
