Southampton Business School has an ambitious quality-driven strategy of growth. To enable world-leading research and generate knowledge that is recognised in the global academic community, we are seeking to award full PhD scholarships to outstanding candidates in several disciplines.

Accounting: seeking top-rated PhD applications from candidates with interests in all areas of accounting and excellent quantitative and qualitative accounting skillset. Two priority accounting research areas, but not limited only to them are (1) Corporate Governance and (2) Sustainability Practices and Reporting. Banking and Finance: seeking students with expertise in Big Data Modelling. An MSc degree in Statistics, Financial Mathematics or Quantitative Finance will be welcome. Decision Analytics and Risk: seeking outstanding students in our members' areas of expertise, including Business Analytics and Risk Analysis that provides assessment and quantification of risk and an understanding of Risk Behaviour; Information Systems; Management Science and Operations Management. Digital and Data Driven Marketing: as one of the top 5 Marketing Departments in the UK, we invite strong PhD proposals in marketing-specific topics, such as Advertising, Branding, Consumer Behaviour, Digital and Social Media Marketing, International Marketing, Relationship Marketing, Retailing and Marketing Strategy in B2C, B2B and C2C contexts. HR Management and Organisational Behaviour: we welcome outstanding PhD project proposals from candidates with an interest in Human Resource Management and/or Organisational Behaviour, as well as in associated fields, such as Industrial/Employment Relations, Employment Studies, Organisation Studies, Labour Economics, and Work Sociology. We especially welcome applications that will develop an interdisciplinary approach to addressing real-world challenges. For example, enhancing organisational sustainability might require a combination of leadership, finance, governance, accounting, and strategy. You are also invited to propose transformative research that challenges conventional disciplinary boundaries, to help solve real-world problems, contribute to addressing the evolving challenges of business with creativity and a collaborative spirit, and create positive outcomes by bridging practice and intersectionality of disciplines to help prepare leaders and members of organisations for the future of work, business and entrepreneurship.
