You will join the Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences (IEHMS) as one of a team of academic, administrative and clerical staff who support the MBChB and other healthcare programmes.

You will be based in the Clinical Skills Centre which is part of the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare, on the Foresterhill site and support the delivery of high-quality clinical education in the simulated environment in the Clinical Skills Centre and other teaching facilities as well as in the clinical environments.

You will join a multi-professional team of experienced staff from a range of clinical backgrounds, all of whom are responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative and high-quality learning experiences for medical undergraduate and otter healthcare students.

The appointee(s) will report through the Director of the Clinical Skills Centre to the Director of IEHMS.

The Clinical Lecturer posts may be appointed full-time or part-time (minimum 0.4 FTE). Applications are strongly encouraged from candidates who wish to focus on medical education but also wish to have the opportunity to maintain or develop separate clinical commitments. Working days would be negotiable but the requirements of the service are such that part time applicants would be expected to work either a Monday or a Friday.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical scale for Academics below level of Consultant,

£43,504 - £76,942 and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and probation period.

These posts are jointly supported by the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian/Highland. They are funded from NHS’ ACT moneys.

ACT (Additional Cost of Teaching) is funding which NHS Boards receive from the Scottish Government for activities and costs incurred by the NHS in supporting undergraduate medical education, such as the activity relating to these posts.
