Updated: almost 2 years ago
Location: York, ENGLAND
Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 10 Jun 2022

The Hull York Medical School is looking for practicing clinicians who are passionate about educating the doctors and healthcare professionals of the future.

A number of opportunities have arisen within the School for Clinical Educational Facilitators to work alongside primary care placements in years 2 and 3.  These roles form a vital part of the undergraduate MB BS programme.

As well as an enthusiasm for teaching and developing skills in our students, we are looking for clinicians who will inspire students to achieve their best, both academically and professionally, providing strong role models for their subsequent development.  Successful applicants will be keen to develop their educational role; many will not already have experience of medical education, problem based learning ( PBL ) or higher educational qualifications, but we welcome applications from those who are willing to undertake these.

Clinical Educational Facilitator roles are supported with tutoring and student support activities through continued professional development.  There is a robust programme of induction and training. Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to other school activities as part of their role.

Applicants for Clinical Educational Facilitator roles will need to commit to a minimum of two, fixed teaching sessions per week during the academic term and may be based virtually or in person.  We expect all applicants to commit to all dates within the academic terms. Additionally, successful applicants will be expected to contribute approximately 2 hours per week for preparation and review of student activities, paid for within the contract and a number of days for contribution to other school activities which will be individually agreed.

The overall annualised commitment for the roles available will be 0.185 FTE.

To discuss this role informally, please contact Professor Lucy Ambrose, MB BS Programme Director:  [email protected]
