3.5 Year, Full Time Marjon / DDRC 180 PhD Studentship
Project Title: Evaluation of occupational physical fitness standards in divers
Eligibility: Home UK/EU applicants who must be a permanent resident in UK/EU
Start date: 6th February 2023
Bursary p.a.: Bursary jointly funded by Plymouth Marjon University and DDRC equivalent to UKRI national minimum stipend (2022/23 bursary £17,668). University fees at the Home/EU rate will be met by the University for the 3.5 years Studentship.

Project Overview
The Resilience and Human Performance Research Group at Plymouth Marjon University are interested in human resilience, motivation, and performance, as well as how research evidence on these topics can be applied to have real-life impact on current societal challenges including within the local community.
This PhD studentship is offered in collaboration with DDRC Healthcare, a charity which aims to improve diver safety and treats diving related illnesses. DDRC is heavily involved in the diving industry and assessing medical fitness to dive both for recreational and commercial divers. Their industrial sponsorship and direct involvement with the PhD scholarship will facilitate meaningful and well supported research opportunities. Full project details here
Marjon 180 PhD Scheme Overview:
The Marjon 180 bursary scheme is designed to help Plymouth Marjon University develop academics for the future while celebrating 180 years of history. With a focus on excellence in research and teaching, it offers a unique opportunity to develop your academic career. You will successfully complete a PhD research programme within a 3.5-year time period. You will also contribute to relevant academic activities at DDRC and within the School of Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation in the region of 6hrs per week and you will be provided the opportunity to gain associate fellowship recognition status from Advance HE.
Requirements:
You will have a 2:1, or above, undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a relevant Masters qualification (or substantive other professional experience). You should have a passion for enquiry. You will be committed to undertaking a PhD within the 3.5-year time period and possess strong written and oral communication skills and excellent organisational skills. You will be keen to develop your teaching ability by supporting an experienced and dynamic programme teaching team. If English is not your first language you will be able to demonstrate evidence of English language capability.
